PAYMENT
All contracts are required to pay 50 percent of the project cost before work can begin.
Client requested changes will be billed additionally.
You will be charged a rush fee if the product is needed within 1 week of delivery.
Final payment is due prior to the finished product being shipped/hand exchanged. If final payment is not received, your product will not be shipped/hand exchanged until payment is received.
ADDRESS LISTS
It is extremely important that you thoroughly check your address list for correct spelling of all words and indicate exactly how you want the words to look. Your addresses will be written as they appear on your address list. Pay attention to periods, commas and abbreviations (i.e. St. or Street; VA, Va, or Virginia). Alternatively, calligrapher needs the leeway of abbreviating text if spacing is an issue.
APPEARANCE OF CALLIGRAPHY
The nature of hand-addressed envelopes will vary from that of computer-generated labels. Each address will vary depending on the letters, length of names, street names, city and state lengths and visually appear different from one another when compared. Please have this expectation set when ordering hand calligraphy. Each envelope is a single work of art and must be appreciated as such.
APPEARANCE OF LETTERPRESS PRINTING
Client acknowledges that letterpress printing is an artisanal process characterized by inherent variations and imperfections, including but not limited to slight irregularities in ink coverage, impression depth, alignment and color. The variations are a natural and expected outcome of the letterpress process and contribute to its unique aesthetic and handcrafted quality.
STATIONERY
Client must provide 20% extra stationery to account for additions, mistakes, ink splatters, etc. Client will pay all shipping fees if client prefers shipping. If the client is local, client is responsible for the drop-off and pickup of the stationery.
RETURN ADDRESS
Return address can be handwritten at an additional cost and must be requested as an additional service.
THE POST
The post office reads envelopes electronically. Due to the nature of calligraphy, addresses can sometimes pose a problem with being machine read. Peony & Plume Printing and Calligraphy is NOT responsible for resending, reprinting or reimbursing for invitations or addresses that do not make it to their intended address. To avoid this from happening, I highly encourage clients to pay for hand cancelation at your local post office.
